Climate Coaching

I am author of Turn the Tide on Climate Anxiety and the young persons’ guide to climate anxiety, You Are Unstoppable (Hachette Publishing) I am also Co-Founder of Mind and Planet and Climate Psychologists .

I want to help those working towards sustainability emotionally sustained. As a climate psychologists, in the context of the climate crisis, I not only ask, ‘How does this make you feel?’ but as importantly, ‘What are you going to do about it?’ My role is: ‘How can I support you to achieve your goals?’ My methods have a quick impact. I help you identify your external and internal motivators, beliefs, values and goals. We identify how you relate to others, your environment, your narratives and the effect these are having on you. As we start to unpick these elements, you can identify and decide how you want to show up for yourself and the planet. We develop this information to give you a clear strategy and plan of action, as well as a skills in developing your personal boundaries, an understanding of self-compassion, and the importance of self-care. I challenge you and hold you accountable, but you have my unwavering support all the way.

Coaching provides a flexibility that can be tailored to each client in a dynamic and explorative, goal-orientated way. This allows you to tease out all that is happening and puts you into a position of control over your actions and emotions.

The Climate Project

This is my passion project. I am committed to helping people overcome Climate Anxiety (or ‘Eco-anxiety) and move into action.

Climate anxiety in adults

It's hard to watch the news, scroll through Instagram or listen to the radio without hearing or seeing something related to climate change. We recognise the impact of climate change on the earth but we are also becoming increasingly aware of the impact on the mental wellbeing of those suffering from climate anxiety. It can be a crippling worry that results in panic attacks, depression and insomnia. This can leave you feeling overwhelmed, hopeless and paralysed, which stops you from taking action to help combat climate change.

Climate anxiety in children

It is important to recognise that our children are living this too. They are discussing the climate on the playground and in the classroom, and may silently be struggling with the stress and worry it can provoke. They have a lot of information, which is no bad thing. However, a lot of their understanding may be inaccurate, and they may not have a sense that small changes can make a big difference.

Having open, well-informed, but contained conversations about climate change and its effects with them will help to create a space so that they are not paralysed by fear and disempowerment but instead can be enthused by motivation and optimism. Teaching children resilience and creativity in a time of uncertainty is an important, if not essential, life-skill in the context of climate change.
